David Kearns is the Area Director for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in Boise, Idaho. He has been involved in several high-profile investigations, including the recent collapse of an airport hangar near the Boise Airport in January 2024. This incident resulted in the deaths of three workers and injuries to at least eight others.
Kearns has been vocal about the importance of adhering to federal safety regulations. In the case of the Boise hangar collapse, he criticized the construction company, Big D Builders Inc., for their “blatant disregard for federal safety regulations,” which he stated led to the tragic incident. He emphasized that the company’s irresponsible construction methods left the structure extremely vulnerable.
