MHS Homes is the largest independent landlord in Kent, offering social and affordable rent homes, shared ownership, and private rent homes. They provide various services, including applying for affordable or social rent homes, managing tenancies, and reporting repairs.
Regarding the workplace accident, MHS Homes was fined £528,000 after an employee repairing a fence post inadvertently struck an underground cable and sustained facial burns. The incident occurred in January 2023 when the employee was using a ‘breaker’ on the concrete in a tenant’s back garden. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation revealed that the company failed to provide information on the location of underground services and did not provide suitable equipment to detect and safely excavate underground services. The company admitted breaching health and safety regulations and was also ordered to pay £4,122 in prosecution costs.
